Protests in Ecuador: Government Crackdown Leads to Arrests and Injuries

Among those arrested was a citizen identified as Nicole Tibanlongo, who was detained by the National Police while participating in protests in Quito; she was found to have a badge from the National Assembly.

Ecuadorian police authorities have reported that during the mobilizations against the government of Daniel Noboa, at least ten people were arrested, including nine men and one woman.
The commander of the police in Quito, Henry Tapia, confirmed that three police officers were also injured during the incidents.
Among those arrested was a citizen identified as Nicole Tibanlongo, who was detained by the National Police while participating in protests in Quito; she was found to have a badge from the National Assembly.
The names of other detainees include Miguel Ángel Pérez, Jafet Guzmán, Jhon Saitero, Alex Landivar, Juan Andrés UPS, and Óscar Jami from Colegio Mejía.

The Regional Foundation for Human Rights Advice (INREDH) has reported that detainees are being beaten in the “Manuela Sáenz” district of former SIC10, where some of those arrested are held.
To control the situation, the Ecuadorian government deployed more than 1,400 police officers at various locations to disperse the peaceful demonstration, intervening violently.
